Measuring for Inside Mount

Before you order your Serena Shades you’ll need to measure your window. In this video, we’ll show you how to measure for a shade mounted inside the window frame. Following these easy measuring guidelines will help ensure you’ll order the proper size shade for your window.

First, measure the depth of the window frame to make sure that the bracket-mounting surface is at least 1.5 inches. Note: The shade may protrude from the trim if the depth of clearance is less than 2 inches. You should also make sure that window hardware, such as a crank handle, won’t get in the way of the shade when you lower it.

Then measure the width of the window in three places: at the top of the frame, the middle, and the bottom. Make sure to measure within the window jambs. Write down the smallest of the three measurements, rounding down to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. This is your order width. Note: Do not make any deductions to the measurement. So the width of the finished shade will always be a bit narrower than the width you specify on your order.

Next you’ll need to measure the height. Measure from the underside of the soffit to the surface of the windowsill at the left, center, and right of the window. Write down the largest of these three measurements, rounding up to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. This is your order height. Note: We won’t make any deductions to the height. And that’s it - you’re finished!
